Gokul Gopan

GIS Analyst · Spatial Data & Mobility · Munich, Germany

Geodata processing, spatial analysis and reproducible GIS workflows.

I build accessibility and walkability analyses, process GTFS and open geodata, and produce network-based indicators and geoprocessing pipelines using QGIS, GOAT, PostGIS, Python and GDAL, translating complex spatial data into stakeholder-ready maps and reports for mobility and planning projects.

About

I am a GIS Analyst based in Munich with experience in spatial data processing, cartography, GTFS analysis, accessibility and mobility studies. I currently work at Plan4Better GmbH, where I support mobility and planning projects using network-based indicators, isochrones, catchments and geospatial data pipelines.

My technical work spans QGIS, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, GDAL/OGR and Python-based geoprocessing (GeoPandas, Pandas, Shapely, Folium), including GTFS feed processing, API-based data collection, location-allocation modelling and reproducible spatial analysis workflows. I am also completing an MSc in Transport Engineering and Mobility at RWTH Aachen University.

Skills

GIS & Spatial Analysis

QGIS, cartography, spatial analysis, georeferencing, digitising, joins & geoprocessing; isochrones, catchments and accessibility indicators.

Spatial Databases

PostgreSQL/PostGIS; spatial data preparation, integration, data quality checks and reproducible geospatial data pipelines.

Python & Geoprocessing

Python for spatial analytics and automation — GeoPandas, Pandas, Shapely and GDAL/OGR for data processing and reporting.

GTFS & Public Transport Data

GTFS feed parsing and processing, transit stop visualisation, service frequency analysis, shortest-path routing and wheelchair accessibility mapping.

Mobility & Accessibility

Walkability, intersection density and accessibility analysis, network-based mobility indicators, isochrones, catchments and public transport coverage.

Cartography & Reporting

Map production for planning studies, technical report writing, municipal and regional stakeholder communication.

Frontend & Deployment

HTML, CSS and JavaScript projects deployed from GitHub using Netlify for live web publishing and portfolio demos.
