About the Challenge
The #30DayMapChallenge is a yearly community mapping event where participants create and share maps on a new theme each day throughout November. It is an opportunity to explore different techniques, tools and datasets — and to communicate spatial stories creatively.

For the Plan4Better team challenge, I spent time around Marienplatz in Munich sketching a route that turned into a GOAT when mapped along bike and walking paths.

Day 1 — Points
Beer brewery locations mapped as point data across Europe.
Day 2 — Lines
Daily trips from Aachen visualised as route lines, showing movement patterns by route direction and connection.
Day 3 — Polygons
Land-use polygons visualised across North Rhine-Westphalia.
Day 4 — A Bad Map
A deliberately misleading India basemap where urban areas were styled green and green spaces grey, showing how color choices can distort interpretation.
Day 5 — Analog Map
A non-digital map of Brazil made using coffee powder, created for the analog map theme.
Day 6 — Asia
Weather visualisation for Asian countries using a real weather API to display live-style temperature values across the continent.
Day 7 — Navigation
Berlin transit accessibility analysis using GTFS data and a 1 km buffer via the OpenRouteService plugin.
Day 8 — Africa
Thematic mapping of African countries with statistical indicator overlay.
Day 9 — Hexagons
Crash analysis in Cologne visualised with a hexagon grid, using six-sided cells to reveal spatial concentrations.
Day 10 — North America
NYC neighbourhoods with high cyclist KSI incidents and limited bike lanes, highlighting the need for enhanced cycling infrastructure.
